Social Media Channels Policy

Social Media & Official Channels Policy
Hindu College Colombo — hcc.lk

Effective date: [ ] — Last updated: [ ]

This policy explains which social media accounts, pages, and groups are officially recognised by Hindu College Colombo (“the School”), and the rules governing the use of the School’s name, crest, and logo on social media and elsewhere online.

1. Our Official Channels

The following are the School’s official, administered social media accounts:

  • Facebook: facebook.com/hinducollegecolombo04
  • Instagram: instagram.com/hinducollegecolombo4
  • Website: hcc.lk

Only content published through these verified channels, or through the official website, should be treated as an official communication from Hindu College Colombo.

2. Recognised Old Boys’ Associations (OBAs)

Hindu College Colombo has a number of independently-run, recognised Old Boys’ Associations supporting the School around the world, including (but not limited to) the Sri Lanka OBA (HCCOBA) and CHCPPA UK. Recognised OBAs may operate their own websites and social media accounts to serve their members and may be credited or linked from hcc.lk. A current list of recognised OBAs and their official contact details is maintained on the OBA Associations page of this Site.

Recognition as an official OBA chapter does not itself grant rights to use the Hindu College Colombo crest or logo beyond what is agreed with the School — see Section 4.

3. Unauthorised Accounts and Impersonation

We are aware that individuals and groups unconnected with the School administration have, from time to time, created pages, groups, or accounts using the Hindu College Colombo name, crest, or imagery. To protect our community from misinformation and our alumni and families from confusion:

  • No individual, group, batch, or organisation may create, operate, or represent any website, social media account, page, or group as an “official” Hindu College Colombo channel without the prior written approval of the School Administration or the School Webmaster.
  • Any account, page, or group that uses the School’s name or crest without such approval is not authorised, is not endorsed by the School, and does not speak on behalf of Hindu College Colombo, regardless of its stated purpose or the good intentions of its administrators.
  • The School is not responsible for the accuracy of information, financial appeals, or conduct of any unauthorised channel.

4. Use of the School Name, Crest, and Logo

The Hindu College Colombo name, crest, and logo are the property of the School. They may not be used on any website, social media account, merchandise, or promotional material — including by alumni groups, batch groups, or OBAs — without prior written permission from the School Administration or Webmaster. Permission requests should be made in writing to the contact in Section 6, and approved use may be subject to brand guidelines provided by the School.

5. Reporting an Unauthorised or Suspicious Channel

If you come across a website, page, group, or account that you believe is falsely claiming to represent Hindu College Colombo, or is using the School’s name or crest without authorisation, please report it to the School using the contact details in Section 6, including a link or screenshot where possible. The School may request removal or correction directly with the platform concerned.

6. Requests and Reports — Contact

    • Email: info@hcc.lk (webmaster@hcc.lk once established)
    • Phone: 011 2 586 169
    • Post: 77, Lorenz Road, Bambalapitiya, Colombo, Sri Lanka

7. Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated from time to time as the School’s official channels and recognised OBA network evolve. The “Last updated” date above reflects the most recent revision.
